Borja G97 State Cup Champions

On April 26th, @ the IE Surf Complex in the Inland Empire, Freedom history was made. Borja's G97 was the first team that won a State Cup Championship since its start in 08. Down 0-1 in the first 10 mins. the girls controled the whole game through their possession style of play. It wasnt long that they got a goal of their own at the start of the 2nd half. The much taller MV Pats relied on longer more direct ball approach but the Freedom back line along with their strong keeper wouldnt have it. Halfway through the 2nd half, Borja took on a much bigger Pats defender on the right and with a couple ankle breaking moves, chipped a beautiful shot with an impossible angle right over the goalie's head for the 2nd and defining goal. This is a great accomplishment for these young ladies with more to come.
