Mexican National Team and World Cup Player

FFC Luna trains with Leonardo Cuellar

Leonardo Cuéllar gave us the pleasure to trained our team.He explained his past experiences and his way of applying it from soccer to life.  Leonardo was also a player in the Mexico national  football team and getting the honor to play at the 1978 FIFA World Cup. He was talking with our team about how he had to bring his  soccer experiences into his life experience. He had told us about how it was a struggle for him to grow up and pursue the life he wanted because of his background and heritage. After talking about his past, he began our training session starting off with a drill that included making moves while dribbling the soccer ball. This was his way of teaching us how to move around with the ball and being able to think about the move before receiving the ball. As he began the next drill he taught us how to communicate with our teammates and move swiftly with the ball. In conclusion we started to scrimmage, separating our offensive and defensive players to try out what we had learned from Leonardo and how we applied it as a team. Having the opportunity to practice with a coach that knew how it felt to be under the pressure and how it felt to final reach the top and still be did not stop putting in work. It is a opportunity that most people to not get and to have my soccer family to experience it with me was a great day.
